DIBUHO Northern Mindanao Art Congress

 The 1st DIBUHO Art Congress was held in Cagayan de Oro City last July 12, 13 and 14 2012. This project was brought to you by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), Green Mindanao Association, Inc., Pat'sada Productions and DIRE HUSI INITIATIVES, Inc.

Northern Mindanao visual artists from Iligan City, Butuan City, Talaandig Tribe from Bukidnon and organizations like Bote Bakal Project, Dvsoria Park Artisans, Biswal Mindanao, Oro Art Guild came and witness the art exhibits, symposium, music presentations, photo exhibits, and much more.

The National Commission for Culture and the Arts- Committee on Visual Arts headed by the Chairman itself and upcoming National Artist Mr. Nemesio Miranda Jr. together with Vice-Chair and Cebu Based artist Mr. Dennis "Sio" Montera, with the executive committee members Mr. Yuan Moro Ocampo, UP Professor on Photography Mr. Joey Tanedo and GMA 7 telenovela actress and former beauty queen Ms. Isabel Lopez came and witness the occasion.

The first activity July, 12, 2012 at 2pm was held in Capitol University Art Gallery where the opening of the Northern Mindanao artworks where being exhibited. It was being followed by a symposium of the state of the visual arts in the country. At 5pm Cagayan de Oro's Performance Artist Mr. Nick Aca did a perfomance art about the environment and its destruction. After the performance an opening program for the DIBUHO Art Congress was held in the Provintial Capitol grounds of Misamis Oriental. On the 2nd day of the activity it was held in the Artsville of Dire Husi, an open forum and discussion was held where after a series of talks a resolution was approved with the Northern Mindanao artists who joined the activity. After the discussion a program was being set up where Dihug Tribal Band made a presentation with their fusion music, and after that all the artists planted a tree for giving significance in the importance of the environment. The community that surrounds Artsville couldnt believe that a prestigous event like that happened in their place and it was graced by National Artists and a Movie Actress. On the 3rd day, a Photo exhibit was being held in SM Cagayan de Oro and a talk about photography followed by no less than UP Prof. Mr. Joey Tanedo who share about the creative process of Photography.
